Job Description Center Store Category Analyst
Job Location: Scarborough, ME

The Category Analyst interfaces with multiple internal and external Category Management and Merchandising team members as well as suppliers and other business partners across the organization. The Category Analyst plays a supporting role in managing vendor relationships. As a contributing influencer of shelf presentation, assortment decisions, product and program development, cost negotiations, and promotional planning, it is critical that the Category Analyst work with his/her Shelf Merchandising Specialist, banner merchandiser, pricing and replenishment counterparts to support the execution of comprehensive, cohesive and well-integrated category plans in support of each banners’ strategy and commercial plan. Likewise, it is essential that the Category Analyst collaborate effectively with his/her counterparts in Banner Merchandising & Marketing, Commercial Plan Team, Retail Operations, Replenishment COE, Our Brand Shared Services, and Data Management (MDM Team) to ensure maximum organizational alignment and optimal portfolio performance according to established goals and strategic plans.

Job Requirements Basic Qualification:

-College degree or equivalent
-3-5 years professional experience
-Proficient knowledge of MS office.

-Highly motivated and detail oriented
-Knowledge of category management, retail management, replenishment and item management systems.

Job Details Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

-Assist the Category Manager with recommendations in negotiating the most advantageous programs w/vendors & actively seek out new opportunities to reduce costs and maintain an optimal item mix.
-Support and provide recommendations to the Category Manager or Senior Category Analyst in collaborating with, Supply Chain Services, and Vendor Partners to negotiate the lowest cost, including all elements that impact cost such as logistics, distribution, shrink, and reclaim (including swell).
-Propose promotions, including category leads, based on the cost and designated category role and strategy for each banner.
-Support the creation of a comprehensive and cohesive category strategy which successfully meets the needs of our customers & achieves category goals and supports banner(s) commercial plan.
-Within Fresh, support the development of products and programs to meet consumer needs and the strategies of our Banners, develop SOPs and training materials, partner with indirect sourcing on supply decisions, develop sales, margin, shrink, and labor projections for new programs, and maintain and update the order guide.
-Support the process of ensuring that on-shelf category assortment presentation and item mix reflects the unique needs and aligns with the role for each banner.
-Collaborate with the Category Manager to manage vendor allowances for the category to ensure targets are met.
-Leverage Our Brand to build customer loyalty and profitability for the category and organization.
-Provide off-shelf merchandising recommendations to banner merchandising teams in support of the banner ad themes and strategies.
